Yale Alumni Magazine David Goldenberg and I wrote the fall 2000 Yale sports recap article for the Alumni Magazine, covering the football team and its latest win over Harvard, the surprising women's cross-country team, which finished seventh in the country, and all other fall sports teams. Then I followed the men's basketball team in early 2002 on their improbable run to a share of the Ivy title and the team's first-ever postseason victory. I've written several more sports articles for the magazine since then. Yale Alumni Magazine: www.yalealumnimagazine.com Fall Sports Roundup , January/February 2007 In a season highlighted by the football team's Ivy title, there was plenty of good news off the gridiron as well. Season of Success, January/February 2006 "The Shot" capped one of the best sports seasons in recent memory. (The magazine published two letters about this article in the next issue.) Great expectations, November/December 2005 Freshman swimmer Alexander Righi is perhaps the highest-touted recruit in the program's history. Olympian-Turned-Law Student Wrestles with Fame, November/December 2004 The wild ride of Patricia Miranda from Athens to New Haven. Men's crew coach charts a new course, September/October 2004 New coach John Pescatore is shaking up men's crew traditions. NFL beckons for another Yale receiver, July/August 2004 April 25 was a fine day for Nate Lawrie '04 to get drafted by the National Football League. Carm Cozza Wins Again, September/October 2003 The legendary Yale football coach is enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame. Leaving Yale, Neck and Neck, Summer 2003 The last lap for the great O'Neill twin sisters of Yale track. Should He Stay Or Should He Go?, May 2003 Has Christopher Higgins gotten too good for Yale hockey? [Apparently he has; soon after this article appeared, the Yale sophomore signed a three-year deal with the Montreal Canadiens.] Historic Feet, February 2003 Amid a season of strong Eli performances, the women's soccer team stood in the spotlight. A Celebration That Got Away, Summer 2002 The 150th Harvard-Yale Regatta ended much as the first one did, with the Crimson crew winning handily. How 'bout Those Guys? May 2002 After 40 years in the doldrums, men's basketball returned with a vengeance this year, earning a share of the Ivy title and their first postseason win in 107 years of competition. And every player on the team will be back next year. The Best for Last, February 2001 A third straight football victory over Harvard made up for thwarted Ivy title hopes, but a pack of women runners made the biggest mark on the fall sports season.
